The Official Mugasha Blog

Updates on new features, shows, and all things Mugasha.

Little updates that make life easier!

Hey there Mugasha peeps! How have you been enjoying the latest additions to the your Mugasha experience? Enjoying all the latest sets? How about that massive Myon & Shane 54 set from Cold Harbour Day? But imagine scanning through that set to find your favorite start to a song or even mid song. Hence, the new scanning system!

You can now scan 30 seconds forward and backward while listening to your music, and the option only appears when you hover your mouse over the player.
Now say you realize you love a particular track and you want to share your love for this awesome song with all your friends, family and co-workers! Click the little gear icon next to a track from the newly designed drop down, and you will have the ability to share the track with sites like Twitter, Facebook, Myspace, Digg and even Stumbleupon! Not only that, but now you can also see how many plays this track has received, how many times it has been liked and even find out more about the artist that created the track.

Want to find out more about the DJs that create shows like Club Life, International Departures and Nocturnal? Now when you visit the show pages, you'll notice the additional links to find out more about your favorite DJs! For all you statistical Mugasha lovers out there, on the right, you will notice some quick stats about a show; the number of times tracks have been played and liked and the number of times sets have been liked. You can now also "subscribe' to the show and receive email updates when it is updated with a new set.

Hope you guys are enjoying these little new features. As Mugasha grows up, we will continue adding more things to make the Mugasha experience even better and of course keep you updated!

Enjoy!

Mugasha updates & Aux blog re-launch

I'm sure by now you would have noticed some of the new updates on the Mugasha show's page. We are constantly trying to make it easier and quicker for you to find your favorite artists and songs and keep you updated whenever we add new shows! We've also updated our main Mugasha blog and added another blog, titled "Mugasha Aux." More on this below.

So let's jump right in and look at some of the new way's you can now view and find shows.

First thing you'll notice when you're on the main show's page are the lack of titles. Don't worry, just hover the mouse over the show you want and watch the title and artist of the show pop up. Another new feature are the little notifications attached to each show. These indicate the number of sets that have recently been uploaded in that show.

One of my favorite new features is the ability to sort the shows, using the alphabetical, newest and popular buttons. Popular sets can also be sorted according to time too, showing you the shows that have been popular over the past week, month and overall. As of now, the most popular show overall is Pete Tong's Essential Mix.

Last but not least, we're excited to announce the re-launch of the Mugasha Aux blog. This the place where you can find the latest news from around the electronic dance music scene, keep updated on our favorite featured shows and the best part is, YOU can contribute too! All you have to do is send an email to post@mugasha-aux.posterous.com. You can embed pictures and videos and they will all show up as a beautiful blog post thanks to the power of Posterous.

So go ahead, give some of the new features a try and even send in your own post to be seen by other Mugasha fans.

Cheers!

Mugasha Presents At SXSW Accelerator

After the three other Microsoft BizSpark Accelerator categories having already presented, we are anxiously awaiting the beginning of the music technology portion where Akshay Dodeja will be presenting Mugasha to the audience and panel of judges. Over the last few months or so, we've been fine-tuning our pitch and message about who we are and what we do. You can read more about that on our About page. What are hoping to take away from all of this? Exposure. We're very fortunate to have been provided with this opportunity to share our story.

Mugasha Selected as SXSW Accelerator Finalist

SXSW Interactive 2009Mugasha has been selected as a finalist in the "Online Music" category for the SXSW Accelerator program during the SXSW Interactive Festival!  The SXSW Conference is one of the biggest conferences of the year. It has three parts: Music, Film, and Interactive (i.e. Tech/Internet/Mobile/etc). The Interactive Festival goes from March 13-17 featuring talks, panels, parties, and over 10,000 attendees.

The SXSW Accelerator event allows amazing, bleeding-edge companies (just like Mugasha!) to present their latest products and services to industry experts, bloggers, mainstream media reporters, and the venture capital community. There are four categories: Online Music, Online Video, Social Networking Applications, and Innovative Web Technologies. On March 16th the finalists in each category will give a short presentation followed by a Q&A session judged by a panel of three industry experts including Guy Kawasaki of alltop.com and Garage Technology Ventures and tech journalist Brad King . Click here to see all the finalists. A single winner will be named and awarded in each of the four categories. The prizes haven't been announced yet, but I'm assuming there is some combination of cash, prizes, and fame!

So, if you are in the Austin, Texas area in mid-March, you should come watch Akshay give our presentation at Accelerator and/or come and hang out with Team Mugasha!
